Painful Heels

Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar fasciitis is a common condition we see here at Canberra Podiatry. It is an injury to the fascia that is connected from your heel bone to the base of the five toes (metatarsals). Plantar fasciitis usually presents as pain in the morning, pain after rest and pain after activity (pain after a long day of standing).

Canberra Podiatry has many treatment options including:

  • Stretching/flexibility exercises
  • Strengthening exercises
  • Footwear prescription
  • Full custom orthotic therapy (these are custom to the individual and shoe specific)
  • Footwear assessment and check for abnormal wear and suitability.
  • Semi-custom orthotic therapy
  • Prefabricated orthotic therapy
  • Remedial therapy (cold therapy, arch rollers)
  • Shockwave therapy (ESWT)
